Drogba’s Agent Toying With Mourinho?

Less than a week ago, TheChelseaBlog was having a chuckle about stories in the press linking Real Madrid with a £10million move for Didier Drogba but whilst I’m still certain Chelsea wouldn’t consider letting our Ivorian powerhouse go, the stories in today’s press aren’t amusing me in quite the same way.

Jose Mourinho has already signed Ricardo Carvalho and we knew he had his eye on Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba despite Chelsea making it clear Ricky was the only player they’d be selling to their former manager. Today though, we’re hearing Real are preparing a €24.5 million bid for the Ivorian anyway.

I suppose it’s less insulting than the previously rumoured offer but for me, it still isn’t enough for our front man and in the absence of anyone available who’d come close to giving us what Drogba does right now, I’m not sure any amount would be.

I suppose what’s gnawing away at me now though is that despite Carlo Ancelotti making it pretty clear Drogba’s sale is a no go this summer, the Ivorian’s agent, who apparently had a chat with City last month about a possible transfer, is saying “Until the transfer window closes anything is possible with footballers.”

It just really isn’t what we – or Drogba – need to be hearing right now.

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
