We haven’t even kicked off the new season yet but the injuries seem to be coming thick and fast!
First we heard Cech would miss the next month with a calf injury, then it was Alex out for a month with a thigh problem. New signing Yossi Benayoun has a dodgy groin, so that seems to be ruling him out and now we hear Didier Drogba has just had a groin operation that sees him out for the next three weeks as well!
For me this situation seems all too reminiscent of a couple of seasons ago where our pre-season ended up being a sign of things to come as we went into one of our worst seasons in terms of injuries – and it’s making me feel a bit uncomfortable that with us letting more players go than we seem to be bringing in, we could find ourselves in trouble.
