So, after just about convincing myself we were in with a proper shout of signing Fernando Torres, Carlo Ancelotti comes out and pisses on my fireworks!
Here I was not only winding up the dippers at every opportunity about them losing Torres to us at some point in the summer, I actually believed it would happen. Until, Ancelotti comes out with “I don’t think we need any other strikers. Nothing has changed, because in the next few days (Didier) Drogba, (Nicolas) Anelka and (Salomon) Kalou will return —and we have (Daniel) Sturridge.”
So, does he really believe that? Does he honestly not think Torres could add something to our attack? Is it the £50million price tag that’s made his mind up? Or is this the first bit of game playing we’re seeing from Ancelotti in the press?
