Andy Carroll Move Should Be Treated With Caution

So, we’re apparently considering putting in a bid for Newcastle’s Andy Carroll, with the suggestion that £7 million would be enough to bring him to Stamford Bridge. Well, he’s young, he’s a striker so that all bodes well but any transfer for this youngster shouldn’t be without weighing up the pros and cons.

You see, whilst the England under-21 international bagged 19 goals in 35 games for his club, helping them back into the Premier League, he clearly isn’t quite so focused on his professional career as soon as he steps off the pitch.

The young striker has, to date, accepted a police caution for assaulting a woman, been arrested when accused of glassing someone outside a Newcastle nightclub. He has also been arrested following a training ground incident which allegedly left Steven Taylor with a broken jaw and is currently on bail awaiting a Crown Court trial. That doesn’t appear to have been his only training ground bust up either, with another run-in reported with Charles N’Zogbia. He’s also previously been sent home from the England U-19s for breaking his curfew as well.

So, whilst a highly rated player, he seems to be a bit of a live one and Chelsea would seriously need to consider whether more controversy surrounding them is what they really need.
