Claude Makelele spent five years at Chelsea and as one of our most influential players during that spell, he was bound to have found himself a favourite with many of us. That’s certainly the case as far as TheChelseaBlog is concerned and his praises have been sung on here plenty of times.
Needless to say then, with our former holding midfielder set to announce his retirement from football this weekend, TheChelseaBlog could not let that pass without thanking him not just for his services to Chelsea between 2003 and 2008 but also for leaving a gaping great big hole it’s been almost impossible to fill since he left. 🙂
