Good news for us but not such good news for Yuri Zhirkov because despite reports previously suggesting Ashley Cole would be lucky to pull on an England shirt in the summer nevermind a Chelsea shirt before that, it appears our left-back is back in training with a possible return to action penciled in for the game against Stoke at the end of this month.
Cole has been out since fracturing his ankle against Everton in February but following intensive rehab in France, coinciding with the break-up of his marriage, he looks to be back up on his feet again with some gentle exercise at our Cobham training ground.
It’s early days and 25th April seems a bit optimistic but we could almost certainly have him back for the end of season run-in.
