Somewhere in the middle of John Terry being defended in some quarters because his extra-marital activities were ‘private’, TheChelseaBlog suggested this whole ‘it’s nothing to do with football’ attitude was some way off the mark. And whilst I’d hate to say I told you so, we…….I told you so.
Because not only did we start to see the first signs of the Chelsea captain’s focus being somewhere other than the pitch against Everton on Wednesday night but when it comes to playing Cardiff on Saturday, John Terry himself will be somewhere other than the pitch.
We’d already heard Ancelotti planned to give JT compassionate leave to spend a romantic Valentine’s day – with his wife hurling obscenities at him for his latest indiscretion, and after our defeat to Everton, Ray Wilkins confirmed “John will not play this weekend. Carlo has decided to give him a bit of time (off). They had a chat and decided it would be the best for all concerned.”
Judging by his performance against Everton though, in his head at least, John Terry was already on the flight.
