John Terry On What Really Matters

There hasn’t been that much positive written about John Terry this season, what with his family’s dalliances with recreational supplies and his own alleged sideline in tour guiding. But that’s not to say the Chelsea skipper isn’t capable of rising above all that and concentrating on what’s really important – leading Chelsea.

And in a season where we’ve seen the arrival of yet another new manager, Terry gives credit to a couple of his senior players for the part they’ve played in helping him hold things together while the managers have come and gone.

With his focus firmly on what really matters, Terry says “It has been a test for me, but I think I have dealt with it – but not only me.  People like Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, they deserve real credit because people hear about me, but they don’t tend to hear about Lamps and Didier behind the scenes.  I can tell people that they are great and it is really important I have got their backing because we have had so many managers over the last few years.  It was important that myself and Didier and Lamps kept everyone together and said listen, as long as we keep doing our job, we are going to have the fans there supporting us.  That is what matters, Chelsea Football Club – not the manager, not the players because one day we won’t be here and it is important we keep the players going and keep the belief in our club to go on and win trophies.”

And that’s exactly the sort of press we want to be reading from the Chelsea captain.

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
