Pantomime Time Again At Chelsea?

The fallout from Chelsea’s Fifa ban seems to have them all crawling out of the woodwork like vultures to pick over the bones at Stamford Bridge,

Obviously the world and his wife want to put their twopence worth in, whether it’s opposition supporters gloating over what they see as them gaining an advantage over us, anti-England journo’s using it as an opportunity to slag off the Premier League in general, or ex-players predicting the mass exodus we’ve been told is going to happen ever since Mourinho left.

Now though, it’s other clubs jumping on the ‘they stole our player’ bandwagon as well and according to The Guardian, French club ATTP Marseille are the next one’s thinking about reporting us to Fifa over 11 year old Jeremy Boga who came to Stamford Bridge in October.

The Marseille club’s chairman, Robert Caturegli is quoted as saying “The player is so gifted the three biggest clubs in France wanted him.  But Chelsea found a solution of taking the whole family: the mum, the two brothers and to keep them in a house in Wimbledon. The mum has a car to take the kids to school and to training or whatever. He was in our Under-12s team and we’re just a youth development club. He didn’t have a contract so we felt we couldn’t go to FIFA.”
So Chelsea realised that if an eleven year old came to London, naturally it would need to be with the agreement of his family and as such, the family would need to feel they were able to settle comfortably into another country?  And Chelsea, as evil as they are, make sure the family have a roof over their heads and transport to get the kids to school and the young lad to training. Would a tent and a couple of push-bikes have been more acceptable maybe?

It’s just laughable the way this is being used as yet another stick to beat Chelsea with.  As if the club trawls other people’s academy’s preying on poor unsuspecting victims to lure away with goodies like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’s child catcher. The simple fact is – and I know this from experience – Chelsea look after the youngsters they bring in, and their families, irrespective of whether they’ve signed them from some French club or a Sunday league side in East Anglia.

So, isn’t that more about Chelsea appreciating that whilst they want to bring these talented kids in, they’re still just kids, therefore the club has a duty to look after everything that comes with them? Yes?

Or should the nation still get the gallows ready?

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
