Mutu Ready For A Chat With Abramovich

Funny that Adrian Mutu, after 5 years of avoiding any discussion with us that didn’t involve the words “sod off I’m not paying”, suddenly wants to sit down and have a chat with Roman Abramovich.

Having been told by the CAS enough was enough and he needs to give up playing the victim and pay Chelsea the fourteen and a half million he owes, Mutu (again playing the poor hard done by little innocent) says “I simply don’t have that money.  I will make a proposal to Chelsea and try to sit down and talk to Abramovich, but it won’t be easy.  Not only do I not have all the money to pay the fine, but also if I never spent a penny from the moment I started earning my living as a football player, I still wouldn’t have enough.”

Poor thing – maybe he should have thought about that during the five years he was dragging it out, or better still before he shoved Charlie up his nose in the first place? I guess, as suggested on here by one reader last week, Mutu could always pay it off for us on the pitch – it’s not like we’d need to ‘buy’ him or anything.

Not that Fiorentina would go for that suggestion though, Mutu’s definitely the blue-eyed boy round there, and his agent Victor Becali confirms “We will do everything we can to resolve this matter.  At the moment we can’t make any promises. We will contact the Chelsea directors and maybe even Abramovich himself.  I hope we can reach an agreement, as Chelsea have also said they don’t want to see Adrian suspended.  We hope to find compassion and that the situation can resolve itself positively for everyone.”

Firing squad it is then?
