Ballack in positive mood

It is probably a little early in the season to be talking about who is going to win the Premier League title, but Michael Ballack seems keen to highlight Chelsea’s chances of success.

The German midfielder has spoken about Liverpool’s relatively poor start to the season by saying that it gives Chelsea ‘extra motivation’ to kick on in the opening weeks.

Rafa Benitez’s men have already lost two Premier League games and Ballack admits that this has come as a ‘surprise’ to everyone else. Chelsea on the other hand are going about their business well with four wins from four under new manger Carlo Ancelotti.

Speaking about the start to the season and the months ahead, Ballack said that all the team can do is ‘win games’ by ‘focusing on ourselves’. Then, if Chelsea play to the best of their ability for the majority of the season, they ‘can win the league’.

The Blues have certainly started well enough with and have been rewarded with a place at the top of the table for now. This in itself, is enough to give the team ‘a lot of confidence’ looking ahead to the remainder of the season.

As for Ballack himself, well he has already scored twice this campaign and will be looking to build on this in the coming months. Despite missing part of the America tour with a toe injury, Ballack says that he had a ‘good pre-season’ which has left him in the prime condition to perform at his best.

This would be a real bonus for Chelsea, and it has to be said should improve their Premiership football odds. Ballack has been decent for the team since arriving at the club in May 2006, but he is yet to have a consistently excellent season. Perhaps this is his year?

The former Bayern Munich man admits that he is a fan new formation that Ancelotti has adopted and it certainly seems like he is enjoying life under the new manager.

He has started each of the last three games as well so you would think a prolonged run in the side is on the cards for Ballack. Hopefully, there is plenty more to come from him.

Blue is the colour is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
