Chelsea’s Jose Bosingwa has spent just one season in our right-back position and now it seems Bayern Munich are trying to tempt us to part with him by waving Franck Ribery under our nose.
Bayern are short of cover at right-back and general manager Uli Hoeness admits “Our transfer activities are basically closed. We are only looking at whether there are possibilities for the right-back position. We are interested in Bosingwa. That’s correct.”
And just so we don’t dismiss the idea out of hand, on the subject of Ribery, says “We have said we will only deal under certain conditions. Namely if the others want to do really crazy things.”
I guess that means we won’t be getting him then. Not because we wouldn’t dream of parting with Bosingwa but more because the ‘crazy things’ he’s on about would mean us putting in a bid of around £51million – which really would be crazy.
