Very few things written in the press about Peter Kenyon make me smile, that’s understandable though right?
We’ve had to endure his ugly mug at Stamford Bridge for five long years. Five years of the sort of transfers (or lack of) that benevolently hand the media sticks to beat us with, five years of hearing how managers like Avram Grant will take us “to the next level” and five long years of him pushing himself further and further into the spotlight, irrespective of the fact that everything he’s said is taken with a cellar of salt anyway. I mean, the bloke does nothing but embarrass himself and Chelsea at any given opportunity and he’s hardly delivered the goods he’s always promised to either. So, I’d have to be forgiven for taking the odd pop at him again this season really.
Anyway, I’m gritting my teeth already – such is the effect he has on me – so enough of this waffling and back to the reason a story about him has finally made me smile. Apparently the end is nigh! Yes, Mr United-through-and-through is rumoured to be leaving us.
According to the Daily Mail “there is plenty of renewed speculation in Rome that chief executive Peter Kenyon, who famously led the Chelsea team up to receive their losing Champions League medals last year in Moscow in a flash suit, will leave the club after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Everton at Wembley. Chelsea would not comment on the gossip but Kenyon has kept a lower profile since owner Roman Abramovich seriously diminished the CEO’s standing by changing managers while he was on holiday. Kenyon, however, has stayed centrally involved in all major contract and sponsorship negotiations.”
Funny enough, he has had a lower profile lately hasn’t he?
