So, Nicolas Anelka bagged another goal for us yesterday and got himself this season’s Golden Boot. Not bad for a ‘second’ striker who’s still played out of his natural position half the time eh?
I have to admit Anelka’s never been a favourite of mine and he definitely didn’t do himself any favours the way he ended last season with his penalty in the Champions League final either. But when it comes down to it, he’s done what he’s been paid to do for Chelsea this season and that has to be good enough for any of us.
He’d gone into the game neck and neck with Cristiano Ronaldo on 18 Premier League goals and Hiddink reckons Chelsea were on a mission to help him overtake the United player. Hiddink said “It was great to see Anelka get the goal. We helped him get the goal, we tried all game to get him space. He has the golden boot. It was good for the team and for him. He executed it with a world class goal.”
Nice work Nic.
