Arsenal’s Adebayor To Replace Drogba?

TheChelseaBlog wondered earlier this week what Didier Drogba was up to on his recent trip to Milan amid the usual speculation around a possible move for the Ivorian.

As it turns out, he could well have been trying to sort himself out a sneaky deal, particularly if he’s been keeping up with the stories coming out in the press. You see, according to the latest headlines, after Drogba’s Champions League tantrums, the Chelsea hierarchy have had enough. And, rather than Drogba getting the chance to spend another summer umming and ahhing about whether or not he fancies another season with us, it seems the decision could be made for him.

What we’re hearing is that not only is Carlo Ancelotti set to take over from Guus Hiddink at the end of this campaign, but he’s already drawing up a squad list for next season – and Didier Drogba’s name isn’t on it. That’s not the end of the story though because the press are also suggesting Ancelotti has named Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor as the player he wants to replace the outgoing Drogba.

The 25 year old striker made his debut for Arsenal in 2006 although this season his future at the club hasn’t exactly looked secure, as the supporters’ reactions to his performances against Manchester United in the Champions League served to reinforce.

Mind you, if he does find himself at Chelsea next season he’ll have to hope Frank Lampard doesn’t have a long memory after their Carling Cup fisticuffs!

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
