CHELSEA 4-4 Liverpool (7-5 agg): Spirit Of Istanbul Didn’t Help Rafa

CHELSEA 4-4 LIVERPOOL (7-5 Agg)

Bloody hell, we know how to string Liverpool along eh? I wonder how many times Rafa wet his pants tonight?

I’ll skim over the first-half because we didn’t actually turn up for that anyway, going in at the break 2-0 down on the night and 3-3 on aggregate after some embarrassing keeping from Petr Cech a goal from Aurelio and a penalty from Alonso who’d been wrestled to the ground by Ivanovic. Still, it gave Stevie Me something to get excited about as the poor ickle injured saint watched from his seat. Bless!

Fortunately, the lads obviously decided they needed to keep the ball as far away from Petr Cech in the second half as possible and pushed up 10 yards.  So, by the time Drogba, Alex and Lampard had put us 3-2 ahead on the night, it was Liverpool who didn’t know what had hit them.

6-3 on aggregate then, you’d have to think the home crowd had every right to be singing “2-0 and you fucked it up” right? I mean, even as deluded as the dippers seem to be most of the time, surely mad Rafa was the only one in the ground believing they could turn it round again? And talking of the Fat Spanish Waiter, he decided he was far from done and to everyone’s surprise, took Torres off with ten minutes to go – the surprise being that nobody had noticed Torres on the pitch in the first place.

But there was more to come as first Lucas and then Kuyt put Liverpool 4-3 up on the night and suddenly it was their turn to be just a goal away from the semis. Fortunately though, despite what they’d tell everyone, Liverpool aren’t the only side who know a thing or two about staging a comeback, as Frank Lampard’s second and our fourth showed them.

4-4 on the night, 7-5 on aggregate – I don’t know whatever happened to Chelsea v Livepool games but these two ties have been something else. Fucking ridiculous scoreline – and I love it!
