Mad Liverpool Boss Still Concentrating On His Own Team?

You have to laugh at Rafa Benitez eh?

To be honest, he’s probably brought more laughs to the Premier League this season than anyone. In FACT, he has definitely brought more laughs than any other Premier League manager.

But he’s still prepared to entertain us it seems and with another game against Chelsea on the horizon, what better time to give us all a giggle? I don’t know what it is about him, is it just his command of the English language or does he come out with this stuff on purpose? Because nobody could be as daft as he seems to be could they?

You see, whilst Fergie suggests whoever wins the Champions League tie between us would be United’s biggest threat, Rafa – obviously not feeling the pressure at all – has had another mad rant.

I mean, he starts off fairly normal, stating quite rightly “One of either Chelsea or Liverpool will lose” – er, well obviously – “and then they will be focused on the league”. But then he gets a little bit more bizarre, suggesting “I think Ferguson will be supporting Liverpool because he knows we are the biggest threat to them in the Premier.”

I don’t know about anyone else but the thought of Fergie ‘supporting’ the dippers is hilarious. Rafa’s gotta be having a laugh surely? How ironic is it that from a club that spouts off more about its ‘history’ than any other, Rafa hasn’t really got a clue about the depth of feeling some of that history provokes?

Anyway, he goes on to rant about how Fergie’s scared of them, because let’s face it, Liverpool are always such a huge threat when it comes to Premier League titles after all and he says “If we continue in the Champions League maybe he will think we are tired. If we are not in this competition then he knows that we will be a threat in the Premier League. If Chelsea are not in the competition, then he knows they will then be a threat also in the league. But he will lose anyway, whoever goes out, because they will still be a big threat to United. But we just concentrate on our team, while he likes to talk too much about other teams.”

Again, his irony kills me because what is it we’re hearing today? Oh yeh, that’s right, he didn’t like Mourinho at Chelsea and he says “I will say that Chelsea was a fantastic club before and it is a fantastic club now. I respect the club but maybe I didn’t like the style of Mourinho. If people say things against Liverpool, I’ll speak out. I don’t like the style of management which criticises other teams. I prefer to show respect.” Ha ha, yeh right!
