One In, One Out At Chelsea

Well, we’ve finally made a signing in the January transfer window – even if it is an academy player.

Yesterday saw confirmation of the signing of 17 year-old Turkish youth International Gokhan Tore from Bayer Leverkusen for an undisclosed fee. The German-born attacking midfielder has been with Bayer Leverkusen since 1999 but despite playing at both Under-17 and Under-19’s for ‘The Werkself’, Tore hasn’t made the step-up to senior level with them and has now signed a three-and-a-half year contract, keeping him at Chelsea until 2012. The youngster is expected to join the academy immediately.

However, as seems to be the Chelsea way this season, whilst one youth arrived yesterday another inevitably departed. Vincenzo Camilleri arrived from Reggina less than a year ago at the age of 15, under much protest from the Italian side who weren’t happy about it at all. So, I’m sure they’ll be much happier with the news that after the briefest of spells with us, he’s heading back their way.
