Chelsea And Those Tevez Stories

I read some silly story the other day, so ridiculous in fact, I couldn’t even be bothered putting anything on the blog about it. You know the sort of thing I mean – Real Madrid and Man City are linked with a player, so the press throw Chelsea in as an interested party, just to pad the story out a bit.

This time, the player concerned was Carlos Tevez and the suggestion was that, with the Argentinean’s two-year lease due to expire in June and Kia Joorabchian insisting United will have to stump up a further £22million and a salary of £100,000 a week on top of the downpayments of around £10million, a permanent deal with United hasn’t been as straight-forward as expected.

Still, despite Tevez making it clear he wants to stay at Old Trafford, that hasn’t stopped the speculation that Chelsea are prepared to ‘battle it out’ with both Real and Citeh for him. The trouble with that though, is that as I’ve already pointed out, Tevez doesn’t actually want to leave and even if the company that owns him doesn’t give him the choice, I think Chelsea doing financial battle with either Real or Citeh is about as likely as Didier Drogba taking the word ‘commitment’ seriously.

And as if to emphasise that point, when asked yesterday about the likelihood of a Chelsea bid for Tevez, Luiz Felipe Scolari stated “It’s news for me and I’m the coach!”
