Drogba Fined Again?

There’s no doubt about it, things haven’t been right at Chelsea lately. And whilst rumours about our clear-the-air meeting are no doubt subject to the usual exaggeration, our recent performances would certainly point to the need for a bit of a chat.

So, there they were at Cobham on Tuesday for a chin-wag before training and here we are a few days later being told Drogba ended up fined £100,000 – so what exactly did happen?

Well, we’d already heard the players had rounded on the Ivorian following his whinge about Chelsea’s ‘lack of support’ and now we’re being told his outburst didn’t go down well with Scolari or Kenyon either. You see, in spite of being returned to Africa by private jet at the club’s expense, Drogba recently stated about the time around his grandmother’s death “it’s true that I didn’t feel a great support” (from the club).

And as if that wasn’t enough, he’s also reported to have criticised Scolari’s team selection – presumably with regards to not playing him up front with Anelka? – and allegedly ‘confessed’ he’d dragged his feet a bit when it came to returning from his knee injury because he felt the Chelsea hierarchy doubted him, suggesting “what opened my eyes was the way some people at the club looked at me. I really felt confidence (in me) wasn’t the same.”

Mind you, whilst on the one hand we’re told any punishment will remain private, on the other hand, we seem to have the press informing us the Ivorian’s been fined £100,000.

Either way, he doesn’t seem to be flavour of the month right now.
