Defender Extends Loan Spell

Chelsea’s Michael Mancienne has had a decent season at Wolves, so decent in fact, he even earned himself a call up to the senior England squad. So obviously, Wolves would want to hang on to him.

Fortunately for them then, despite the 20 year old defender expected back at Stamford Bridge after Monday’s game, Wolves have been able to extend his loan spell for the full 93 days allowed under the emergency loan system.

A delighted Mick McCarthy says “Michael has done everything we expected of him and has been a very good player for us.  We’ve been delighted with him and are delighted to have extended the loan.  We’ll then wait and see what Chelsea decide in the window. If they feel they can leave him out and we can have him for the rest of the season then that’s what we’ll do because that can happen at any time in January.  Chelsea might have a problem with any outgoings or injuries and if they want him back they’ll have him on recall. At least now we can take him to the end of the emergency loan.  I don’t have to make a decision. I want to keep him but it will be up to Chelsea as he’s their player.”

I guess the only question now is – what are Chelsea going to do after that?
