Robinho Nightmare

As if our summer long battle with Real Madrid over Robinho wasn’t enough, yesterday’s handbags looked to have made a right joke out of our transfer dealings.

However, whatever we’ve done pales into insignificance compared to the goings on at Manchester City today. Their takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group and the influx of money that comes with it has seen them trying their best to throw money at just about every big name going. The fact that clubs have spent months chasing all these players City are trying to buy in a matter of hours has made for either a very amusing or very stressful day as a supporter, depending which side of the fence you sit on.

And whilst it’s starting to look as if the Premier League’s new rich kids are likely to miss out on the hijacking of Dimitar Berbatov from under United’s noses, they haven’t finished yet apparently. Because, with Chelsea still clinging onto the outside chance that Real Madrid will accept a revised offer for Robinho, rumour has it City are currently in talks with the Spanish club in an effort to sneak in before us.

As for whether or not Robinho would accept a move there, well I’m sure he won’t fancy the prospect of missing out on Champions League football although the way Real have treated him this summer, even a move to Stoke would have to look good right now.

On the up-side, the last few minutes has heard Peter Kenyon suggest Chelsea remain locked in talks with Real for the player – now why doesn’t that reassure me?

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
