Chelsea Transfer List For This Week

Well, we’re into the final week of the transfer window and with Deco remaining Luiz Felipe Scolari’s only acquisition since taking over the hotseat, the suggestion is he’ll be making up for lost time in what is likely to be ‘a frenzied few days.’ Scolari’s had a couple of competitive games to take a look at what he’s got and any gaps he’d like to fill and reports suggest he’s in for a busy week as he puts the finishing touches to the squad.

Following Chelsea’s narrow victory over Wigan on Sunday, Scolari said “Tomorrow when I am back at the club I will discuss these things. Last week we only talked about Wigan but tomorrow I will talk about players. When I come into the club I will discuss this or that, who comes, who goes.”

So, looking at the rumours then, it was a little surprising to hear Shaun Wright-Phillips had already got a move to Everton by Sunday lunchtime when according to the Chelsea boss, it hadn’t actually been discussed and the player in question was with the rest of the squad at the JJB. That’s not to suggest a move for SWP isn’t on the cards though, with Manchester City, Everton and Arsenal all linked to the 26 year old winger.

Of course the exit of SWP would also make sense if the summer long speculation regarding a certain Brazilian replacement reaches a conclusion in Chelsea’s favour. Following a lengthy summer courtship during which Peter Kenyon has been in danger of making the Real Madrid/Ronaldo saga look like a one-night stand, Chelsea have seen various sums of money turned down amid threats to keep the player under lock and key. However, recent suggestions that Robinho may now be allowed to leave – at a price – and the absence of the player for Real in the Supercopa on Sunday are making this one look like just a matter of time.

Of course we’ve already seen the departure of Andriy Shevchenko this week, with the Ukrainian expressing his heart-felt gratitude to the club and supporters. And surprise, surprise, this has seen the resurrection of the old Kaka rumours, with the suggestion that the Shevchenko deal was a makeweight which will see the Brazilian arrive at Stamford Bridge next season.

And finally – just to make sure we’ve been linked to as many deals as possible I’d assume – our old friends the ‘sources’ in Spain have dropped David Villa into the Chelsea shopping basket – at the bargain price of £40million.

Now if only some-one would make an offer for Didier Drogba, even our Ivorian could come out of the transfer window with a smile on his face!
